2016 / 2017 'A Bad End Story'

'I wanted to bring people together for the opportunity to go somewhere deeper as a group while the project progressed, with a commitment only to this progress and a disregard for the end. I thought only starting an art collective was too obvious and I did that before, so I started a band as a basis for the interaction. The name of the band says it all for this project- A BAD END STORY. Perhaps it results in nothing but crap.

A group of curated artists manipulates each song- interpreting it through their own medium or profession, which in turn will inform the next phase of the song altering its structure and lyrics.

The emphasis is the word END. This will definitely end. Friday the 13th in July 2018. None of the work will be shown again in this context, and the band will never create another track or perform after this date. The result of the collaboration will have no influence of this. An exhibition will take place with the Venice Art Biennale in 2017 and all work involved in the project will be shown. Like anything we know for sure- we know everything has an ending. This is a journey that we dive into, not knowing where it will take us or what will be produced- what visuals or sound structures are going to be evoked- and one that we jump off at a chosen date rather than chasing success and later fading out. We want to build and document the tension in the process because that’s what’s unknown and that’s where the interesting stuff happens. Luckily I’ve paired up with a good drummer, because I’m a stranger to the guitar and certainly not a singer. It’s a bad beginning, imagine the end…' Aldo van den Broek.

2015 'To the Etch' masterclass, organised by Cornelie Samson and under the guidance from Stijn Peeters I joined this masterclass to learn the basics and various techniques of etching. Took place at Grafisch Atelier Den Bosch at the Willem2Fabriek, 's-Hertogenbosch.
